Sonoma Country Retreat

It may be folklore, but it is said that this landscape is built into an olive grove planted by General Vallejo’s daughter. Classic building techniques and materials honor this historical space. The stone walls throughout are made of tufa, a stone of compressed volcanic ash, which was salvaged from the site. Sequoia buff flagstone and sand-finished integral-color concrete round out the material selection.

The pool area adds expansive entertainment space down a slight hill. There are many natural springs onsite, so subsurface water needed to be managed. Over-excavation, re-compaction and subsurface drainage were required to create this lovely destination.
