Santa Rosa Modern

This mid-century home, in the middle of the woods in a remote location, is located on a small ridgetop clearing. The landscape architects, Lucas & Lucas, extended the architecture of the home into the landscape with clean lines to help civilize the pool and entertaining area, creating a space that feels comfortable and safe to inhabit while in the middle of the wildness. Outside of the entertaining area, they stayed out of the way of the natural beauty of the site by conforming to the existing conditions and keeping it simple overall.

The design team pushed the vanishing edge pool as far away from the home as possible and utilized its structure as a retaining wall to create usable space. The outdoor kitchen, shower and sauna are tucked around the corner out of view from the home, putting the pool on show.
